Welcome to Marisha's and her friends' site about Moldova and Transdniestr, with particular emphasis on rural travel and travel hits and tips . Of course we will do boring traveler and business support work, eg. information searches, logistics, running errands, buying tickets etc. Of course contact us about accommodation in Kishinev. To humble backpackers we can offer a spare room in our flats in Kishinev / Chisinau or Tiraspol or even rent out the whole place when out on holidays; to others we will recommend a suitable hotel.

Please, note that me, my hubby Kris and our doughter Lisa are currently living in UK and you can only meet us in Manchester. My family and friends in Moldova are looking after our guests in Chisinau, Tiraspol and Ivancea. I am back in Moldova in May - July 2008 and am available as English speaking guide and assistant in Moldova & Transdniestr.

Finally, we've got a flat to rent in the center of Chisinau. It's a 1room apartment near the Train Station that will be ideal for a couple or 2 friends looking for something private and in the center. From 15 Euro per person per night. Minimum stay: 3 noghts.

Also, we've re-opened our hostel in Ciocana. Double + single + 4 bed dorm in a spacious flat in Chisinau. Nice atmosphear and travel support.

Kris, Lisa and I went to visit my relatives in Moldova for the Orthodox New Year, January, 14. The flight was a big challenge for us and our baby, but seeing my mother Katherine and my cousin Lena with her family and all of my friends and relatives was a big delight. Besides, there was a lot of snow in Ivancea when we came and Lisa went on sleigh for the first time in her life. Read more about our trip and see some photos on Kris's travelblog

It is an amateur guide to book shopping throughout Europe and its aim is to list all the cool independent bookstores in Europe selling books in English to make things easier for all the book-lovers on the road.

Besarabka page : Thousands of Germans from Russia forced to flee their homes during W.W.II. Many left Europe for the US, a lot of them relocating in North Dakota. Our guest Otto Gienger was one of them. He and his daughter stayed with Lena at Besarabka in October 2006 visiting the hometown of Otto Neudorf, now called Karmanova. Visa section : No entry visa is required for citizens of Norway and Iceland (approved by the Parliament at the end of December, 2006)

Visa section : Soon as of January 1, 2007 the citizens of the EU member states, US, Canada, Japan and Switzerland can enter Moldova without visa. You may need to buy medical insurance at the border (5 Euro for a week stay) if your insurance does not cover Moldova.

It has been a while since I last updated this webpage. Some big changes occurred in my life, I became wife to Kris (read some about our wedding and how to marry a Moldovan girl) and mother to a beautiful baby girl Lisa Kristina. I am currently in Manchester with my husband and the little newborn and all support in Moldova is provided by my friends and colleagues. We are back to Moldova by the middle of spring 2007. In the meantime, please, book your accommodation in Chisinau and other services in advance, as I will need 1-2 days to arrange it with my colleagues in Moldova. Finally, the procedure of the registration of the foreign travelers visiting Moldova becomes easier. From now on the registration is made at the border when entering the country and is valid for 90 days. Soon, the citizens of the EU member states, of the US, Canada, Japan and Switzerland will enter Moldova without visas as of April 1, 2007 (according to some sources from January 2007 already).
